The FVa N 6 Tourbillon Planetaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept watch is a high performance timepiece striking by the naked beauty of a skeleton mechanism. It was initially unveiled at Baselworld 2008.
The timepiece has been equipped with an innovative movement, the first ever produced from Lightnium, a Lithium-based alloy. The new material is a metal characterized by an extremely low density. The material has been exclusively used in the field of state of the art aeronautical engineering. Its main features are lightness and high tensile strength, implying the reduced structural weight and improved elasticity of the module.

Franc Vila did not want to simply construct another traditional skeleton watch with ornate engraving and classical Rococo-Art-style motifs. Beating inside the timepiece is FV N 6 Mechanical movement with manual winding, a vibrantly impressive skeleton tourbillon mechanism, with the aesthetics inspired by contemporary art. The structural design of the mechanism is related to modern architecture.
Franc Vila has used an extremely low density material for the hand-made and hand-decorated movement and reduced the mechanism to its minimum expression, having come up with a true skeleton beauty. However, the movement is rigid enough to resist to the stresses of the gear train, barrel and tourbillon, thus providing immaculate performance. The lightness of Lightnium allows the movement to be less affected by inertial forces.
The aesthetic beauty of the movement is revealed by the back of the movement and the impressive tourbillon cage built in colored Lightnium and featuring the brand's logo. Franc Vila has managed to create a skeleton caliber which still maintains the signature 'Esprit Unique' shape to result in unmistakable identity of the mechanism.
The movement gives an advantage of a 5-day power reserve. The flying tourbillon, the regulatory organ, is fitted with the 'Inertial Moment Control System' for constant and precise regulation of the tourbillon. Due to a differential system of planetary gears, the movement offers a fast planetary winding function - the number of turns required for winding the watch is reduced by two-thirds.
The black titanium case of the Franc Vila watch features the 'Esprit Unique' shape with elliptic and circular bezel. The sapphire crystal and case back of the watch are provided with double sided anti-glare treatment. The case construction is 100-meter water resistant.
The transparent sapphire dial is completed with hours and minutes indications, as well as a power reserve indication at 9 o'clock. The FVa N 6 Tourbillon Planetaire Skeleton SuperLigero Concept watch is available in an ultra-limited edition of 8 pieces.
