Nomos Tangente Sport Beta Date

The Nomos Tangente Sport Date now features the brand new Beta in-house movement, and a larger case size and luminous hands when compared to the standard Tangente model.  It also is available only in a solid case back to provide increased water resistance.

During our recent visit to the Nomos workshops, we saw first hand the production of these movements, including all of the intricate operations necessary to produce the individual parts, cut and clean the metal, and create the movements using two separate lactations in the very small village of Glashütte , Germany.

To create the parts for such a movement in-house is an extraordinary achievement for a company of Nomos' size.  The movement begins with a traditional Glashütte 3/4 plate which is rhodium plated and decorated with Glashütte ribbing and Langeleist perlage.

Next, the ratchet and crown wheels are decorated with traditional Glashütte starburst patterns.  Finely blued screws are used throughout, and other features include Triovis fine adjustment in four positions, hack mechanism, Nomos click, and power reserve of 45 hours.

This watch is extremely comfortable to wear thanks to its uniquely designed lugs.  Be sure to expand the picture above, and you will be able to see the curved pattern in the lugs which causes the watch to mold to the wrist, and creates a length of 44 mm lug end to lug end.

Beautiful silver plated dial with a combination of Arabic and hour markings. The dial contains an off-center subsidiary seconds dial. The dial is first sand blasted, then bathed in silver to provide the unique Nomos coloring.  The baton hands are made of polished steel with applied Super LumiNova for night legibility.

The case is made in a special steel alloy which is nickel-free.  When you purchase this watch from WatchBuys, your name and serial number are registered with Nomos entitling you to a full US warranty.  This watch is water resistant to 100 meters.  Polished sapphire crystal on front with solid nickel free steel case back.

And last but not least - the strap.  Nomos watches use hand stitched straps made from Shell Cordovan.  This is the most expensive type of leather featured on a watch strap, and is typically used only in hand made custom shoes and brief cases.  The leather is very smooth, durable, water-repellant and extremely long-lived.

il classico Nomos...mi ricorda Ikea, non so perchè, forse quelle linee essenziali e moderne, come se non avesse un cuore.. 

 

a me ricordano in piccolo gli orologi da parete di quelli in cucina.

cmq, i nomos sono andati abbastanza su, tanto in popolarita che prezzo, negli ultimi 4-5 anni.

A mio avviso la bellezza sta proprio nelle linee e forme essenziali.
Orologio sobrio, ma i tedeschi per me sono altri: Lange e GO.
